Chips

The popularity of chips is tremendous nowadays. They are eaten by many people belonging to different age groups, but especially they ring the bell with teenagers. Youngsters admire them greatly and eat them when they are hungry and simply to kill time. Children begin to eat them at an early age and get accustomed to their taste at once.
Chips are so tasty and crispy that it is often very hard to resist temptation and keep from buying them. They are very tasty indeed, and it is difficult to find a person who dislikes them. It is so very understandable, because food industry engineers worked hard to make their taste perfect. We must admit that they have coped with this task successfully. Huge amount of advertisement has also done its part. But what about their healthiness? Are they totally safe or they can influence our health negatively? Let's think about it and consider some facts about chips and their properties.
At first we should mention that their profit is zero. It is unnecessary to talk about healthiness of potatoes when we discuss chips. In the process of chips' preparation potatoes go through many stages and all their healthy qualities fade away and nothing healthy remains after final stage of processing. So, as we see it is useless to find anything profitable in our favourite food.
Now let's talk about unpleasant things, i.e. harm to our health. Unfortunately chips are harmful indeed. At first let's start with potatoes themselves. Those kinds of potatoes which are taken for preparation of chips are genetically modified. The harm, which can be done to our health by genetic engineering, is still a disputable question. But the fact that many scientists doubt its absolute safeness makes us become alerted and try to avoid genetically modified products.
The next drawback of chips is the fact that they contain various substitutes to natural components. Even if it is marked on the cover, all these words are too long to read them at once and make clear what they mean. Scientists and dieticians claim that these substances affect negatively to our stomach, intestine and the whole digestive apparatus in general. Besides they contain heavy metals, the unhealthy effect of which will be seen when we grow old.
Various spices and aromatizers, which are the main components of chips' taste, are also harmful for our health in general and our digestive system in particular. Moreover, they provoke false appetite. Even if chips are low-calorie, they make you eat something else except them. Even in case you are not hungry and eat chips for pleasure, it will not be the end of the affair. After a short period of time you are likely to be hungry and begin to eat something else, though your stomach doesn't need it. It can lead to overeating, intestine disturbances and obesity. Now decide whether to eat chips or not.
